What is Scenes?

Scenes is a white-label community platform, sold by Avalon and pitched as “your whitelabeled Discord”. You get a branded community on web and mobile with channels, forums, group chat, live audio and video stages, a shop for selling access, and roles and permissions. It runs your community under your own name rather than sending members to someone else’s app.

Who is it for?

Scenes is for coaches and course creators running a community as the product, particularly cohort-based courses and paid memberships where live sessions matter. The $399 floor and the sales-led signup mean it is aimed at established communities rather than someone starting out.

Pros

  • Fully white-labelled on web, with branded mobile apps on higher plans
  • Native audio and video stages, live events and RTMP streaming
  • Built for cohort-based courses, with forums, resources and group chat alongside the live sessions
  • Nine channel types, so a large community can be organised properly
  • Shop channel for selling memberships and products, with a lower fee on higher plans
  • Free migration from another platform

Cons

  • Pricing starts at $399/month, which is several times the going rate for community platforms
  • No self-serve signup, so you cannot try it without talking to sales
  • No CRM, no email automation and no landing page builder
  • Scenes publishes conflicting prices across its own pages, so confirm the quote in writing
  • The public site carries stale content in places, which makes it hard to judge how actively the product is being developed

Is it worth it?

Scenes makes sense if a fully branded community with real live-event tooling is the whole business, and you have the revenue to justify a $399 floor. The channel range and the native stages are genuinely strong for cohort-based work. Against that, it is expensive next to Circle and Skool, you cannot buy it without a sales call, and the marketing site is inconsistent enough that we would ask direct questions about the roadmap before committing.
